Forge farm stand produce sale takes place every Friday afternoon during the spring and summer months. The farm stand offering includes some of the garden’s seasonal, organically grown produce, all of which is available for purchase by students and the general public.

The half acre edible organic garden operated by the Santa Clara University has become a hub for sustainable food system education. Established in 2008, the Forge Garden has committed to serve the campus as a space for course research, service learning, and demonstration of sustainable food production. Operating within the Center for Sustainability, the Forge Garden provides a living laboratory for exploration of environmental impacts and social justice surrounding the food system.

The Forge Garden currently houses six chickens, four beehives, a 400-square foot greenhouse, a compost center, over 20 fruit trees, over 15,000-square feet of garden beds, a public commons, an aquaponic system, an outdoor kitchen, and the 2007 Solar Decathlon House used as an office.

Visit the Forge Farm stand produce sale to pick up some fresh garden grown produce for the weekend, and in the process take a fresh look at what it takes to live in a more sustainable way and be more connected to the land and the food you eat.

A tour of our local wastewater treatment plant – Silicon Valley Clean Water (SVCW) – located at 1400 Radio Road in Redwood Shores. Take the opportunity to visit the plant that is in the midst of a an over $700 million Capital Improvement Program to update aging infrastructure originally built back in 1982. The plant is a regional facility that serves Belmont, Redwood City, San Carlos and West Bay Sanitary District.

Tour features:

  • Secondary treatment and advanced filtration
  • Recycled water facility
  • Cogeneration of energy from methane gas
  • Biosolids production used for composting and farming
  • On-site use of recycled water

Please note that no children under the age of 11 are permitted on this tour.
