Crop Information

The following plants can be grown within gardens here in Santa Clara County, where our USDA garden zone is 9b. This is really nice, as it allows us to take advantage of year-round planting. (Read more about Santa Clara weather).

The plants that do especially well for we south bay gardeners are shown in bold italic, while cool season plants are shown in blue. (Cool season crops are ideal for growing in fall or winter gardens, although we can sometimes get away with incorporating them into our summer gardens if we are careful to avoid the hottest weeks of the summer).

To see info for a specific plant, click the plant name in the list. For suggestions on when to plant what, refer to the pages showing Silicon Valley Seeds Weekly ToDo for Area Gardeners.
